gocek - gocek hotels
Göcek is hugely influenced by sailing and has evolved from a very simple village to one of the more sophisticated marinas on the Turkish coast. An eclectic mix of sailors visit Göcek in all manner of craft - from simple ketches through to wondrous schooners and outrageous gin palaces. To sit in one of Göcek's many waterside cafés and bars at sunset watching this variety of people is one of life's main pleasures here.

The village itself provides an interesting backcloth. Relatively sophisticated restaurants and bars face the beautiful marina and a wide selection of shops line the village square and main street. Directly behind this one street of modern life, Göcek returns to her old self - a simple Turkish village.

The village is situated at one end of the Gulf of Fethiye, just across the water from the scattering of deserted islands known as the Twelve Islands. Göcek does not have its own beach, although guests may take a taxi or Dolmus for the ten minute journey to the beautiful Forest Reserve beaches at Inlice and the lovely Günlüklü being fifteen minutes away.

The evening is when Göcek is at her best - enjoy a drink at one of the picturesque harbourside bars and restaurants, wander around the wide selection of shops or visit the Turkish Bath which, all in all, provide the opportunity for wonderfully relaxed evenings. The new marina is a ten minute stroll from the village and provides a further selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
